About the Mage Tower Challenge
Each challenge is locked to a specific set of specs tied to the boss design. Completing any one challenge unlocks the Tier 20 Mythic recolor transmog for that character's class — permanent cosmetic reward across the account. Guardian Druids get the additional Fel Werebear form unlock tied to The Highlord's Return. The ceiling reward is the Soaring Spelltome mount from completing all 7 challenges, which requires multiple character classes on the account since the specs span across all 7 encounters. For achievement-focused collectors targeting broader meta-achievement collections, pair with Glory achievements or check the Midnight-era Glory of the Midnight Delver for current-expansion meta completion.
The Seven Challenges
Each Mage Tower challenge is tied to a specific boss and a fixed set of class specializations. Challenge access is hard-gated — you can only attempt a challenge if your current spec is in its allowed list. This is the structural reason all 7 completion requires multiple characters.
Challenge × Boss × Specializations
Challenge | Boss | Specializations |
|---|---|---|
Archmage Xylem | Arms Warrior, Frost Death Knight, Havoc Demon Hunter, Survival Hunter, Subtlety Rogue | |
Agatha | Elemental Shaman, Feral Druid, Fire Mage, Fury Warrior, Outlaw Rogue, Unholy Death Knight | |
Sigryn | Arcane Mage, Assassination Rogue, Demonology Warlock, Enhancement Shaman, Retribution Paladin | |
Tugar Bloodtotem | Beast Mastery Hunter, Destruction Warlock, Discipline Priest, Windwalker Monk | |
Highlord Kruul | Blood Death Knight, Brewmaster Monk, Guardian Druid, Protection Paladin, Protection Warrior, Vengeance Demon Hunter | |
Lord Erdris Thorn | Holy Paladin, Holy Priest, Mistweaver Monk, Restoration Druid, Restoration Shaman | |
Raest & Karam | Affliction Warlock, Balance Druid, Frost Mage, Marksmanship Hunter, Shadow Priest |
The Highlord's Return is the tank challenge — all 6 tank specs funnel here. End of the Risen Threat is the healer challenge covering all 5 healer specs. The other 5 challenges spread across DPS specs with specific combat mechanic requirements. This distribution means a complete 7/7 run typically needs a character of every role plus DPS-spec coverage — most customers order Soaring Spelltome orders on accounts already holding a Druid, Hunter, and Rogue since those classes spread across the largest number of challenges.
About Mage Tower Challenge Boost
The Mage Tower Challenge boost is a Legion solo challenge carry service completing one or more of the seven permanent Mage Tower scenarios at Deliverance Point on the Broken Shore, unlocking Tier 20 Mythic recolor transmog sets per class, the Fel Werebear form for Guardian Druids who complete The Highlord's Return, and the Soaring Spelltome flying mount for customers completing all 7 unique challenges across multiple character classes, with piloted, coaching, remote desktop, and Self-play completion options.
BuyTheWin schedules Mage Tower orders for same-day completion on most realms — single-challenge piloted clears typically finish in under 30 minutes per attempt once the booster reaches the tower. Full 7/7 Soaring Spelltome orders schedule across multiple character handoffs as customers' classes are rotated through the appropriate challenges. Coaching addon sessions run longer (60-90 minutes per challenge) since the customer learns the fight rather than being carried.
FAQ
How does Mage Tower scaling affect my current gear?
Inside the tower, character scales to level 45 and gear scales to 120 ilvl internally — every player faces identical scaled stats regardless of current expansion gear. Tier Set bonuses, legendaries, Azerite powers, Covenant abilities are all disabled. This means 282 ilvl Mythic raid gear performs identically to 240 ilvl Normal gear inside. Legion and Battle for Azeroth enchants and consumables still function and provide a minor edge. Main determinant is spec mastery, rotation, and positioning — not gear ilvl.
Can I still get the original Legion Mage Tower artifact appearances?
No. The original Legion artifact weapon appearances that dropped from Mage Tower during the Legion expansion are permanently unobtainable — when Mage Tower returned in Patch 10.0.5, Blizzard explicitly did not restore the artifact weapon skins. The current rewards are Tier 20 Mythic recolor transmog sets (the Tomb of Sargeras tier appearance in alternate colors), the Fel Werebear form for Guardian Druids, and the Soaring Spelltome mount. If you want the original Legion artifact looks specifically, those were Legion-only prestige rewards and cannot be obtained through the current Mage Tower content.
Do I need multiple characters for the Soaring Spelltome mount?
Yes. The Soaring Spelltome unlocks through A Tour of Towers achievement, which requires completing all 7 unique challenges. Each challenge is locked to specific class specs, and no single character's class covers all 7 challenge spec lists. The minimum viable setup is 3 characters of different classes — Druid + Hunter + Rogue coverage typically hits all 7 spec groups since those classes spread across the largest variety of challenges. Full 7/7 orders require the customer to have the necessary characters available or add leveling services to unlock them.
