About the Onyxia's Lair Boost
Onyxia's Lair is a 40-player single-boss raid in Dustwallow Marsh. The encounter is one of the shortest raid fights in Classic Era — typically twenty minutes from pull to loot — but the three-phase script and the deep breath rotation in phase three punish unprepared rosters. Onyxia drops the Tier 2 helm token for every class on each kill, plus a high-value off-set table including Vis'kag the Bloodletter (one of the strongest one-hand swords pre-Naxxramas) and Mature Black Dragon Sinew (used in the Black Dragonscale leatherworking craft).
The Head of Onyxia drops on every kill and turns in at your faction's capital city for Rallying Cry of the Dragonslayer — a two-hour world buff granting +10% AP, +140 attack power, +10% melee/ranged crit, and +10% spell crit to everyone in the city when handed in. Most progression rosters time the head turn-in to coincide with raid log-on for free world buffs across the guild.
FAQ
Do I need Onyxia attunement?
Yes. Onyxia's Lair requires the Drakefire Amulet, completed through a faction-specific quest chain. Alliance: Marshal Reginald Windsor's questline in Stormwind. Horde: Eitrigg / Rexxar Onyxia chain ending in Kargath. If your character is not yet attuned, bundle the Onyxia Attunement Boost at checkout.
What does the head turn-in actually do?
The Head of Onyxia is turned in to Major Mattingly (Stormwind) or Bowen Brisboise (Orgrimmar). The turn-in plays a cinematic and grants Rallying Cry of the Dragonslayer to all players in the city for two hours — a world buff with significant raid-DPS impact.
