About the Cooking Leveling Boost
Cooking is one of three secondary professions in Classic Era (alongside Fishing and First Aid). Master Cooking at 300 unlocks the raid stat-buff food pool — strength, agility, intellect, spirit, stamina, mp5 variants. Smoked Desert Dumplings (+20 strength) is the standard physical-DPS food. Tender Wolf Steak (+12 stamina + 12 spirit) is a hybrid food popular for paladins, druids, and shaman. Nightfin Soup (+8 mp5) is the standard healer food.
The leveling path runs from skill 1 in capital cities through Outland-equivalent zones (which don't exist in Classic — leveling stops at vanilla zones). Material costs are low relative to main professions because raw fish and raw meat are abundant on standard farming routes. The booster supplies materials or pulls from your bank.
FAQ
Is Cooking worth taking on a raid character?
Yes. Stat-buff foods give a measurable raw-stat boost during raids — typically 20+ of a primary stat for a 30-minute window. The profession does not consume one of your two main slots so it costs nothing to take alongside Engineering or Tailoring.
Should I pair Cooking with Fishing?
Yes if you have time. Fishing supplies the raw fish needed for high-tier cooking recipes (Nightfin Snapper, Stonescale Eel, Deviate Fish). Most raiders take both secondaries together because both are passive professions outside raid hours.
