Throne of Thunder Raid Boost Overview
Throne of Thunder is the Tier 15 raid of Mists of Pandaria Classic — 12 bosses spread across the Last Stand of the Zandalari, Forgotten Depths, Halls of Flesh-Shaping, and Pinnacle of Storms wings, with the Heroic-exclusive Ra-den fight sitting in a bonus wing. The raid is set on the Isle of Thunder and revolves around Lei Shen, the Thunder King — one of the longer end-boss fights in the expansion's tuning curve.
The boost clears all 12 bosses on either Normal or Heroic. Normal hands out 522 item level gear; Heroic steps up to 535 ilvl with the harder mechanic tuning. Thunderforged is the equivalent of Warforged in this tier — a chance roll on each drop that adds 6 ilvl, landing 528 on Normal or 542 on Heroic when it triggers. Full Heroic completion unlocks the Ra-den fight at the end of the raid.
What Drops in the Raid
The loot table is wide. Weapons cover most slots: Do-tharak, the Swordbreaker as a one-handed sword, Shan-Dun, Breaker of Hope as a polearm, and Uroe, Harbinger of Terror as a two-handed axe lead the weapon end. Hydra-Scale Bloodcloak handles the cloak slot, Deeproot Treads sit in the feet slot, and Fissure-Split Shoulderwraps cover shoulders.
Two raid mounts hide in the drop tables. Clutch of Ji-Kun drops from the Ji-Kun encounter; Spawn of Horridon drops from the Horridon fight. Both sit on low drop chances, so the boost includes them as chance rolls rather than guaranteed deliverables. Guaranteed Loot picks lock in a specific item count, and Full Loot Priority routes every class-suitable drop to your character.
Lei Shen and Ra-den on BuyTheWin
The Lei Shen fight closes the standard 12-boss run. The encounter is multi-phase with phase transitions tied to the Thunder King's energy mechanic, and it's the first end-boss in this expansion that pushes raid teams toward modern retail-era difficulty. The boost handles the full fight including all phase transitions.
Ra-den is the Heroic-only secret encounter. It triggers after the full Heroic clear of the standard 12 bosses in the same lockout — the boost includes Ra-den when the Heroic option is booked at full-clear scope. The fight is one of the most demanding in the expansion's tuning and requires the booster team to handle every mechanic cleanly. Self-Play and Piloted are both available; reruns roll across lockouts until guaranteed counts land.
Throne of Thunder FAQ
What's the chance of getting a raid mount?
Clutch of Ji-Kun and Spawn of Horridon both sit on low drop chances per kill — historically well under 5 percent per boss kill on either difficulty. The boost can't guarantee the mounts on a single lockout, but raid reruns scheduled across weekly resets keep the chances accumulating. Many players book the boost specifically to maximize mount rolls across consistent weekly runs.
Does the Heroic option always include Ra-den?
Ra-den is included when the full Heroic clear is booked — meaning all 12 standard bosses on Heroic in the same lockout. If the order is a partial Heroic clear (some bosses Normal, others Heroic), Ra-den doesn't trigger. The full Heroic option specifically is what unlocks the Ra-den wing access.
How does Thunderforged work?
Thunderforged is a chance roll on each drop that lifts the item level by 6. On Normal, a 522 piece becomes 528 if Thunderforged. On Heroic, a 535 piece becomes 542. The chance triggers per drop, not per kill, so a single boss can roll one Thunderforged piece while another piece on the same kill stays at base. The rate is similar to Warforged in Siege of Orgrimmar.
